On November 13-15th, 2014, the international symposium on global diaspora and international cooperation was held in Mapo district, Seoul, the Republic of Korea. Tao Wang, teacher of School of Management from Tianhua College, was invited to attend the symposium and delivered a keynote speech. The international symposium was hosted by Korea Research Foundation and sponsored by the Korea Institute of Peace Studies and Chonnam National University. There are about 200 representatives of various walks of life and different countries participated in this academic event.
After the opening ceremony, the keynote speech and the association’s annual election processes is the academic research section which is mainly about the topic of global migration issues, international and regional cooperation, the China-ROK free trade area and industrial development in East Asia. There are five sessions in this symposium and ten scholars delivered academic speeches and academic reports.
Two representatives from China delivered academic reports respectively in the fifth session of the “Sino-ROK cooperation and cultural exchange” academic seminar, one is Xiaobo Wang, professor of political science from Yanbian University, whose academic report is titled “Ploughing through the waves: observing the situation of Northeast Asia through Xi Jinping’s visit to the ROK”, and another one is Tao Wang, teacher of School of Management from Shanghai Tianhua College, whose academic report is titled “The formation, development and evolution of foreigners living space in Shanghai through the perspective of history: also on the immigration culture of Korea Village in Shanghai” and he uses slide shows and vivid charts to analyze the historical evolution of the spatial distribution of foreigners in Shanghai and immigration mentality and culture of Korean Community in Shanghai. During the communication period, scholars from various countries show great interest in issues of China’s economy, politics, culture, FTA and APEC meeting. Everyone was full of spirits in the presentation and discussion. The academic atmosphere is strong and harmonious.
There are many scholars and professors from different universities attended this international symposium. The attended universities are as follows: University of California, University of London, Fukuoka University, Konkuk University, Dankook University, Pukyong National University, Dong-A University, Chonnam National University, Hanyang University and Yanbian University. The communication and exchanges of different countries, regions and cultures made this academic event more exciting and interesting. After the symposium the delegates went to visit the the National Assembly Building and other places which is located in the Yeongdeungpo-gu district, Seoul.
